PAIN EXPERIENCE IN LABOR

I have a low pain threshold. Will it hurt? Like a lot? Well, it really depends.

The degree of pain a laboring woman may experience is very strongly affected by her emotional state, environment, atmosphere in the room which is highly influenced then by the attitudes of the team involved.

Also, it really depends on how the pain is seen or what techniques are used to cope with the surges. If there is rhythm, ritual and relaxation involved, most likely the experience will be much different from where there is a desperate need to shout.

Of course, if the baby is in a difficult position or there are specific health issues of the mother, the pain experience may vary.

All in all, needless to say, that pain tolerance is not exactly a lonely wolf in the woods. It really works together with emotions, mental state and the moods of the other people in the birthing room.

Do not  worry too quick if you see yourself as having  low pain threshold. Instead, make sure to educate yourself and prepare your birthing room/ atmosphere and especially the team.
